Goldberg Ediciones has decided to suspend publication of Goldberg Magazine temporarily, as of its edition number 54. Edition number 55, which was to have come out in December, will not be published for the time being.
José de Nebra (1702-1768) was one of the greatest Spanish composers of the 18th century, and for years now the revival and rediscovery of his works has been a tantalizing adventure for music lovers. He was an organist and composer who wrote more than 20 operas and zarzuelas, which little by little some Spanish groups are now starting to perform.
This issue begins with an article about the Italian composer Giulio Caccini (1550-1618). Although he was born in Rome, Cosimo de’ Medici hired him at the age of just 15 to sing at the wedding of his son Francis and he spent the rest of his life in Florence, where he succeeded Cavallieri as music director at the court.
