This year the festival, now in its 14th year, is scheduled for 24-26 October. It will focus on baroque music through three ensembles that display an interest in baroque genres in Spain, Europe and Latin America, albeit from different musical perspectives. The first concert, on the 24th, features the duo formed by viola da gamba player Rami Alqhai and theorborist Miguel Rincón.
In a programme entitled “Músicos para la Corte”, they will play pieces that entertained the royal court in Versailles in the 18th century, with works by Marais, Forqueray and Visée. Taking the stage the next day will be Pulsata 3, comprising brothers Daniel and Pablo Zapico and Enrique Solinis. Their programme, entitled “Falsa relación”, addresses the Spanish baroque through plucked string instruments, of which they are consummate masters, with works by Murcia, Sanz and Ortiz, among other composers.
The festival closes with a concert by Música Prima, led by the Paris-based Colombian musician Francisco Orozco. It presents a new programme entitled “De la músicas indígenas a las cortesanas”, which ranges from tribal dances of the Indians of the Amazon to the refined steps of court dance in baroque Europe. Rounding out the general programme, the festival provides an educational concert for school children in Olivares.
All the concerts will be performed at the Church of Santa María de las Nieves at 9 p.m. For more information go to: www.zanfonamovil.com
