The festival offers a complete programme of cultural and artistic activities for all ages and tastes: music, drama, street theatre, entertainment... In total some 30 productions have been programmed in different settings spread throughout the city’s most historical and beautiful corners: the Altamira Palace, the Grand Theatre, the Basilica of St. Mary, St. Joseph’s Church and the Municipal Park Rotunda, among others.
The festival draws on companies from different parts of Spain such as Segovia, Cádiz, Badajoz, The Basque Country, Galicia, Valencia and Barcelona, as well as from other countries including France, Italy, Croatia, Russia, Belgium and Portugal. Among the most noteworthy are the Belgians Grain de la Voix with “Poissance d’amours”, the Ensemble Dialogos from Croatia with Judith, Alia Música with “Ubi est Christus?” and Ttukunak with “Yeiyeba-Txalaparta femenina”; as well as the Guririgai Theatre production, El vuelo de un millón de pájaros (The Flight of a Million Birds), and the Portuguese Teatro Do Mar’s Daimonion.
Street theatre is once again an important part of this year’s festival. Apart from the different acts programmed for the city centre, there will also be two medieval street markets, which will fill Elche with jugglers, dancers, acrobats and all kinds of handicrafts over the festival’s two weekends.
