19 December 2008 is the deadline for the entry to the Fringe Competition organized by "la Caixa" Social and Cultural Outreach Projects. The Fringe is an initiative open to young performers of early music. It seeks no only to foster young musicians who are launching their careers but also to enable the general public to enjoy early music, performed on historical instruments and following historical criteria, through more accessible initiatives.
24 October to 2 November 2008. The city of Elche will play host to the 13th Festival Medieval d´Elx from 24 October to 2 November, which focusing on women during the Middle Ages this years coincides with the extraordinary performance of the Misteri d´Elx (Elx Mystery Play), part of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity since the year 2001 and staged on 1 November every even year.
24 to 26 October 2008. The village of Olivares in the Seville region is once again holding the early music festival which bears its name and on previous occasions has featured such prominent performers and groups as Paul O´Dette, Hopkinson Smith, Micrologus, José Miguel Moreno and Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, among others.
