MUSICAL STILL LIFE IN EIGHTEENTH-CENTURY FRANCE
Musical Still Life in Eighteenth-Century France
By Victoria Llort. Translated by Yolanda Acker
The 18th-century brought about many important innovations and changes in the aesthetic evolution of music and painting.

The former was subject to complex processes that saw it evolve from the precept of mimesis to the principle of expression.

While discussions centred on the relationship between music and text for much of this period, music also became part of painting as a result of new forms and procedures, both of a formal and thematic kind.
