   ENSEMBLE ALTA MUSICA
The ensemble was founded by Rainer Böhm in 1985. One aim was the research and performance of medieval wind music, concentrating on the repertoire and the instruments of the Alta Capella, and particularly on the double-reed instruments shawm and bombarde.

The original purely wind ensemble was expanded by adding voice, fiddle, recorders, portative and string tambourine, allowing Alta Musica to cover the whole spectrum of medieval music, from unison song or dance through three-part motets and instrumental pieces up to a four-part mass. Concert tours have taken Alta Musica to Belgium, Germany, France, Holland, Italy and Switzerland. The ensemble has taken part in several international Alta Capella get-togethers: at the Schola Cantorum in Basle in 1993, the International Double Reed Symposium in Utrecht (Holland) in 1994 and the Alta Capella Symposium in Aldenbiesen (Belgium) in 1995.
